JAMMU, March 4: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today asked the coalition government to fulfill its promise of providing unemployment allowance to the educated unemployed youth of the State. He charged the coalition regime with ditching the people of Jammu and Kashmir especially the unemployed youth and government by making false promises.
Talking to the reporters here this afternoon, the PDP MLA said that National Conference had promised to provide unemployment allowance to the educated unemployed youth of the State. Furthermore the ruling party had also promised to enhance the retirement age from 58 years to 60 but no step has been taken so far. “The National Conference had sought support of the youth with a promise to reduce the recruitment qualification in police from Matriculation to 8th standard”, he said and regretted expect promises nothing concrete has been done so far in this regard.
Earlier raising the issue in the Legislative Assembly, PDP MLA from Darhal Choudhary Zulfikar Ali pointed out that during the just concluded assembly elections, National Conference had promised to provide unemployment allowance to the educated unemployed youth of the State. He said that it was high time for the coalition to fulfill the promise.
The MLA also pointed out that during election campaign the National Conference had also promised that the qualification for recruitment in the police would be reduced from Matriculation to 8th standard. He asked the Government to clarify what steps so far has been taken to implement this promise.
Choudhary Zulfikar Ali also raised the issue of present recruitment policy through which district cadre posts are filled up amongst the eligible candidates from all over the State due to which candidates of the particular region, district and block are badly affected.
It was only after PDP member raised these issues, the concerned Minister assured that remedial measures have been taken in this behalf. The Minister said that the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services Decentralization and Recruitment Bill has been introduced in the current session of the Legislative Assembly.
