7 killed in Jammu Kashmir

Seven persons, including a trooper, a special police officer, a woman and a retired police constable, were killed in separate encounters across Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, police said.::: 4 KILLED IN DODA ::::The deputy inspector general of police, Doda-Udhampur range, H K Lohia, told Greater Kashmir over phone that a joint party of policemen and troopers of 10- Rashtriya Rifles cordoned off Kastigarh forest belt in Doda district this morning and launched searches. “Militants present there opened fire on the search party which was retaliated, triggering a gunfight in which a militant, his female associate, an SPO and a trooper were killed.” A police spokesman identified those killed as Mukhtar Ahmed son of Abdul Hamid of Gurmul-Kastigarh, Dilshada daughter of Ghulam Rasool Parray of Kurdar-Manwas, SPO, Karan Singh, and Suraj Prakash, trooper of 10-RR. The DIG said the searches in the area were on, as one more militant was believed to be hiding in the forests. ::::POLICEMAN, MILITANT KILLED ::::A militant and a retired police constable were killed in an encounter in the frontier district of Kupwara on Sunday, police sources said. They said that a joint party of police and troopers of 47-Rashtriya Rifles cordoned off Kandi Nutnusa this afternoon and zeroed in on the house of Muhammad Shafi Khan. “A retired police constable, Shamsuddin was asked to enter the house and negotiate with the holed up militant. However, the militant opened fire which was retaliated, triggering a gunfight,” they said, adding, claiming that in the ensuing gunfight a militant and Shamsuddin were killed.:::: FORMER MILITANT SHOT DEAD ::::A police official said that unidentified gunmen barged into the house of former militant, Manzoor Ahmed Sofi, at Tral Bala in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district this evening and shot him dead.(Source: with the inputs of Zonal Police Headquarters Srinager)
