KU, NASSCOM launch Talent Assessment Initiative


2000 students to be assessed; Varsity reviews overall process/

Kashmir University and the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) on Wednesday launched the Talent Assessment Initiative for the varsity students to enable them to built successful careers in various areas.
The Initiative called ‘Global Talent Track’ shall assess students on various skills, identify their strength areas. The students shall have to undergo the Talent Assessment Test in categories like Engineering, Computer, Information Technology, Arts, Social Sciences, Science, Commerce and Business Administration.
The assessment process shall start this week for about 2000 students, who shall be assessed with the help of assessment tools. Based on assessments, students will be provided with developmental feedback in terms of career options and possible developmental tools to sharpen their skills and boost up confidence.
Based on the Talent Assessment Report, the GTT will recommend suitable courses for students of the University. Once recommendations are accepted, GTT counselors would provide feedback on the outcome of talent assessment and the courses for which they would enroll.
The registration process can be done on the website, www.gtterp.com .
To review the whole process, the Kashmir University authorities and academics on Wednesday held an extensive meeting, which was chaired by the dean, Academic Affairs, Prof Aziz-ul-Azeem. The discussion for the meeting was opened by Director EMMRC Dr Shahid Rasool and after wards the members had a threadbare discussion . It was decided that the varsity shall be identifying students and providing computer labs for conducting the tests besides other necessary infrastructure and manpower.
The KU’s controller of examinations, Prof A M Shah, also represented the varsity as Registrar during the meeting. Among others present in the meeting included Prof M A Qureshi, director IQAC; Prof M A Sahaf director Business School; Dr Meraj ud Din, director IT, KU ; Prof A. M Mir, principal S P College; Zeenat Ara, Principal women’s college, M A Road; Prof Aijaz Hussain, Principal Boys Colelge Baramullah; Prof Z A Chatt, principal degree college Anantnag: and Dr G M Tibet Baqal, Tral degree college; Sheique Mee’raj, principal IMFA Srinagar; Er G N Lone, administrator IICM; Dr S M Qadri, director, Computer Centre; Dr SM Shafi, HoD Library and Information Science; Dr Bashir Ahmad, Director Foreign Languages; and Dr Shahid Rasool director EMMRC.
