Kashmir core issue in Indo-Pak relations: Gilani

Contending that Kashmir is the "core issue" in relations between Pakistan and India, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani today said other outstanding issues cannot settled without its resolution and asked the international community to help resolving the issue."Kashmir is still a core issue (between the two countries) and without its resolution, other issues cannot be resolved," Gilani told Geo News channel in an interview.Confidence-building measures with India suffered after the Mumbai terror attacks, he said."However we are sincere and we are ready to resolve all issues, including Kashmir, through dialogue," he added.India suspended its Composite Dialogue with Pakistan in the aftermath of the Mumbai incident in which over 180 people were killed. India has linked the resumption of the peace process to Pakistan taking action against elements based on its soil that had planned and executed the attacks.Gilani also said the whole world is aware that the resolution of the Kashmir issue and the repatriation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan "are very important issues".The presence of Afghan refugees in Pakistan had become an important issue as their number had touched 3.5 million."Pakistan cannot fight on too many fronts. We have to concentrate on both the eastern and western borders. Therefore we urge the world to help us in resolving the two issues," he said.
